There are two types of casinos in the Miami area, those associated with another parimutuel activity such as horse racing, dog racing or Jai-Alai, and those that have no activity other than the casino.

The two venues that are casino-only are the Miccosukee Resort & Casino west of Miami and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, north of Miami.

And for the King of Sports, don’t miss the flat racing at Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino in Hallandale, north of Miami, and the Calder Casino & Race Course north and west in Miami Gardens. For those who prefer harness horse racing, don’t miss racing at the Isle Casino in Broward County.

The establishments that offer multiple gaming activities and the number of gaming machines available at each (where available) are as follows:

  • »  The Isle @ Pompano Park – 1500
  • »  Dania Jai-Alai – poker only
  • »  Mardi Gras Casino – 1300
  • »  Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino – 600
  • »  Calder Casino and Race Course – 1200
  • »  Casino Miami Jai-Alai – not available
  • »  Magic City Casino – 700

Some of these locations are outside Miami-Dade County but are easily accessible from Miami-Dade.
